How do we get to Jindabyne and the Mountains?

Jindabyne, Perisher and Thredbo By Air

Aeropelican now flys to Cooma!

Why drive when you can fly...

Virgin Blue and Qantas airlines fly into Canberra Airport on a regular basis from Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Brisbane. Canberra is approximately two hours from Jindabyne by car (190km) and can be accessed via Car Hire or Coach transfers from the airport. Let our consultants know and we can arrange your transfers from Canberra or Cooma Airports.

Coach Transfers

Coach trips can be organised from Sydney, Canberra and major bus depots to both Jindabyne and the resorts. Shuttles are limited from Cooma to Jindabyne & the Resorts during summer so it best to either book a coach trip that comes directly to Jindabyne or speak to one of  our guest relation officers who will help you find transfers to the area.

Greyhound and Country Link service the area on a limited basis.
Coach transfers can be booked through Greyhound, Murrays, Transboarder, CountryLink or Snolink. There are limited daily transfers between Jindabyne and the resorts or if you choose to stay 'on snow' your coach will drop you at the resort.

For more information on transfers from Cooma Airport please see

or contact your travel consultant at Snow Escape Holidays

By Road

Driving from Sydney

Follow the Hume Highway from Sydney then just south of Goulburn take the Federal Highway and travel south to Canberra. This section of the trip is on a mainly divided road. At Canberra follow the signs to the Monaro Highway to Cooma. The road then joins the Kosciuszko Rd that you follow through the town of Berridale and onto Jindabyne. Just past Jindabyne Town Centre take a left onto the Alpine Way to Thredbo or continue straight ahead to Perisher Valley.

Approximate driving time from Sydney is 5 hours with a short stop.

****A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT WINTER DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS****

Driving on snow covered roads is dangerous and something most of our visitors have never done. We advise that on those most snowy days you stay tuned to the local radio station

SNOWFM 97.7 in Cooma, 94.7 in Jindabyne

 for road updates.

Never go into the mountains in winter without proper fitting snow chains for your vehicle. Plus, know how to fit them before you head off for a days fun!!

We recommend you rent your vehicle snow chains from
